Connecting To A Virtual Computer

These instructions are for connecting to a Goshen College virtual computer from your personal computer when either on or off-campus, in a dorm room, or from a Mac in an employee's office.
To connect to a GC virtual computer, you need to download and install the Horizon Client software on your personal computer or iPad/iPhone, using the instructions below.
Note: You can always visit the helpdesk with your computer or device to get help with setting up the Horizon Client.
Windows users:
- Navigate to view.goshen.edu
- Click Install VMWare Horizon Client on the left
- Then download and run the appropriate VMware Horizon Client for either your 32-bit or 64-bit Windows
- If prompted, select IPV4
- Under default server enter: view.goshen.edu
- Once the Horizon Client is installed run the program
- Double click Add Server
- The Connection Server name to enter in is: view.goshen.edu
- Log in with your Goshen College username (without the @goshen.edu) and password
- Choosing which virtual computer to connect to:
- Employees: Select “Win10-Offices” when wanting to connect to your personal virtual computer, or "Windows 10-NonPersistent" when wanting to connect to a lab computer.
- Students connecting when on or off-campus: Select "Windows 10-NonPersistent" from the list.
- To log off of a Windows 7 Virtual computer, click Start Menu and click Log off.
To log off a Windows 10 virtual computer, click the Start menu, click on the profile icon, and then click Sign Out.
Mac users:
- If your using a Goshen College owned Mac:
- Run Manage Software Center
- In the list of software find and install the "VMWare Horizon Client"
- Once the Horizon Client is installed open the Application.
- The Connection Server name to enter in is: view.goshen.edu and then click on the Connect button
- Enter in your Goshen College username and password, and make sure that "GC" is in the Domain field.
- Choosing which virtual computer to connect to:
- Employees: Select “Win10-Offices” when wanting to connect to your personal virtual computer, or "Windows 10-NonPersistent" when wanting to connect to a lab computer.
- Students connecting when on or off-campus: Select "Windows 10-NonPersistent" from the list.
- To log off of a Windows 7 Virtual computer, click Start Menu and click Log off.
To log off a Windows 10 virtual computer, click the Start menu, click on the profile icon, and then click Sign Out.
- If you using a personal Mac:
- Navigate to view.goshen.edu
- Click Install VMWare Horizon Client on the left then download and run the appropriate VMware Horizon Client for Mac
- Once the Horizon Client is installed open the App
- The Connection Server name to enter in is: view.goshen.edu
- Choosing which virtual computer to connect to:
- Employees: Select “Win10-Offices” when wanting to connect to your personal virtual computer, or "Windows 10-NonPersistent" when wanting to connect to a lab computer.
- Students connecting when on or off-campus: Select "Windows 10-NonPersistent" from the list.
- To log off of a Windows 7 Virtual computer, click Start Menu and click Log off.
To log off a Windows 10 virtual computer, click the Start menu, click on the profile icon, and then click Sign Out.
iPad/iPhone users:
- From the App store download and install the VMware Horizon App
- Once the Horizon Client is installed open the App
- Tap on "view.goshen.edu"
- Enter in your Goshen College username and password, then tap Login.
- Choosing which virtual computer to connect to:
- Employees: Select “Win10-Offices” when wanting to connect to your personal virtual computer, or "Windows 10-NonPersistent" when wanting to connect to a lab computer.
- Students connecting when on or off-campus: Select "Windows 10-NonPersistent" from the list.
- To log off of a Windows 7 Virtual computer, tap the Start Menu and tap Log off.
To log off a Windows 10 virtual computer, tap the Start menu, tap on the profile icon, and then tap Sign Out.
- When you get back to the screen where you choose which virtual computer to connect to, tap Logout in the upper left corner. Then, close the Horizon app.
