Opening a FileMaker database hosted on the GC FileMaker server

To open a FileMaker database stored remotely on


PC & Mac:

  1. Open FileMaker Advanced
  2. Choose File menu > Open Remote
  3. In the Open Remote File dialog box, select View for a list of hosts.
  4. Select Favorite Hosts in the dropdown box
  5. Click on FM Server ( in the hosts list.
  6. In the Available Files list, select the file you want to open.
  7. Click Open.
  8. Enter your username and password if necessary.



  1. Open FileMaker Go
  2. In the Remote Files and Hosts column, hit FM Server ( to show available databases.
  3. Scroll through the list to find the database you want to open, and touch the name to open it.
  4. Enter your username and password as necessary, then hit Go.
