How to enable the pop-up blocker or add an exception
Posted by Pamela Kistler-Osborne on 21 March 2014 11:22 AM

Firefox now comes with a built in pop-up blocker. It is recommended that you leave this enabled at all times.

To verify that the blocker is enabled:

  1. Click on the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner of your browser window
  2. Click Options>Content
  3. Check to see that the "Block pop-up windows" box is checked.

In certain situations, you may need to enable pop-ups. Rather than completely disabling the blocker, Firefox gives you the option to add exceptions for single websites.

To add an exception:

  1. Highlight and copy the URL of the website you need an exception for
  2. Repeat steps 1-2 above
  3. Click "Exceptions" across from "Block pop-up windows", paste the URL copied in step 1 into the "Address of website" field, and click "Allow"
  4. Click "Save Changes"

If you no longer require an exception, select it from the list of exceptions and click "Remove Site" and then "Save Changes". If you no longer require any of your exceptions, click "Remove All" and then "Save Changes"
