Editing Portfolio Pages

Editing Portfolio Pages

  1. Log into Mahara:
  2. Click on the Portfolio tab
  3. Select the page you want to edit.
  4. In the top right-hand corner, select Edit this Page:

To edit information on the portfolio template:

  1. Click the gear icon to access editing options.
  2. Depending on the type of block, you can edit text, upload files, or embed media.
  3. When you are done making changes, save.
  4. You can rearrange your blocks by dragging and dropping while in edit mode.

To add blocks:

  1. To add a new section or block to your material, drag and drop the correct type of content into your portfolio. Find more options by clicking on the tabs “journals,” “General,” Profile,” etc. The option to add your Co-Curricular record is the first option under the General tab.


To share portfolio pages & collections:

  1. Click the share page tab
  2. Scroll down and select the “share with other users and groups option.”
  3. Change Friends to Users.
  4. Type in your Professor’s name and hit Go.
  5. Click Add next to your Professor’s name.
  6. Hit Save at the bottom of the page.

Creating new Portfolio Pages & Collections

Adding a new portfolio page: You will need to create new pages for your co-curricular record and your faith or vocation statement.

  1. Log into Mahara:
  2. Click the Portfolio tab
  3. Select Create Page
  4. Give your new page a title and description.
  5. Hit save.
  6. Your page will open in edit mode. Add content by dragging and dropping blocks into the portfolio. (See handout on co-curricular record for info on how to add that to your portfolio).

Creating Collections: You will need to merge all your pages (the template, co-curricular record, and faith/vocation statement) into one collection.

  1. Click the Portfolio tab
  2. Select the Collections tab
  3. Click New Collection
  4. Give your collection a name and description.
  5. Click Next
  6. Select pages to add to your collection:
  7. Click “Add pages.”
  8. Rearrange order of pages, if desired.
  9. Hit done.

Sharing Collections:

  1. Click the Portfolio tab
  2. Hit Share
  3. Next to the name of your collection, click the key under the Edit access heading


  1. Scroll down to the Share with Other Users and Groups heading.
  2. Change Friends to Users.
  3. Type your Prof’s name and hit Go
  4. Click Add next to your Prof’s name
  5. Hit Save.
