Adding or Removing a GC Networked Printer or Copier
For a computer running the Windows operating system:
To Remove a printer:
- Click on the Search icon.
- Type in Devices and Printers.
- Find the printer you wish to remove and then right-click on it and choose Remove Device.
- Confirm the removal of the printer by clicking on Yes.
- Reboot your computer by clicking on Start, then click on the small arrow next to "Log Off" and then click on Restart.
To Add a printer:
- Click on the Add GC printers icon on your computer's desktop
- A Window will open with a list of all the GC networked printers available. Double click on the one you want to add
- a small window will pop up when the driver has finished installing
- close the window and the printer should be installed and ready to use
Note: if you are adding a GC printer to a personal computer you may receive a pop-up window asking you to enter in your network password to connect to print.goshen.edu If so, the default account that is listed there will probably be the local account on your computer. You will need to click on the option to Use Another Account. Then, in the username field, type in GC\ followed by your username. eg. GC\jsmith
Then, enter in your GC password.
- If you wish to set that printer or copier as the default printer, do the following:
- Click on Start and then click on Devices and Printers
- Right click on the printer you want to be the default printer, and from the menu click on "Set As Default Printer."

For a computer running the OS X operating system:
To Remove a printer:
From the Finder menu, click the apple icon and then system preferences
Click Printers and Scanners
In the new dialog window, a list of printers should appear on the left
Select the one you want to remove by clicking on it once to select it
Then, under the list, click the - sign to remove it from the list.
To Add a printer:
Note* Some Mac desktop computers and some Mac issued laptops will not be able to add a printer unless the person adding the printer is the administrator of that computer. Ryan adds dept. printers for people when a Mac laptop is issued new to a person.
Mac laptops that are personally owned/not GC issued will use mobility printing.
From the Finder menu, click the apple icon > system preferences
Click Printers and Scanners
In the new window that opens click the + sign to add a new printer
A list of available printers appears > select the one you want and click on it to select it.
The Name, Location and Use for the printer appears at the bottom once you select it. Secure Air Print is auto populated.
Click Add and the printers is added to your list of printers
