Goshen College offers a wide variety of technology services to employees for both academic and administrative use. This document highlights the services that you can access with your Goshen College account. 


Your Username and Password

With your Goshen College username and password you have access to a variety of network services and software applications. You can change your password whenever you want, but please do not share it with others. Keeping your password secret will guard your personal account information and protect your documents and email stored on the network. Change your password at

Cybersecurity Training As part of our ongoing efforts to maintain appropriate security with regard to sensitive data at Goshen College, every new employee will be assigned security training that they will need to complete within their first week of employment at Goshen CollegeYou will receive an email message in your Goshen College email from “ITS Helpdesk <>“ with the subject line of, “Goshen College Security Awareness Training.” Refer to that email for instructions on how to access and complete your cybersecurity training within your first week of employment. 


Computing Support

Information Technology Services (ITS) operates a professionally staffed Help Desk. Support is available Monday through Friday at the Schertz Computer Center in the Union building from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and evenings at the Library from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. There are also limited hours on the weekend, semester breaks, and holidays. ITS uses Kayako Fusion for its Help Desk solution.  With Fusion you have access to our ever growing Knowledgebase for end-user support, and helpful downloads and support tools. Email, Calendar, and Google Applications

Goshen College uses Google’s services for Email, Calendar, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Applications. Every student and employee has  a “Goshen College” Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Drive account. This account has already been created for you.  You can access your account by going to 

  • click on the Sign In option
  • enter in your full Goshen College email address and password
  • click on the Application Menu to access Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive,  and the other Google Applications


Employees are not allowed to forward their GC email to a personal account.

If you are unsure of your Goshen College username and password, please contact the Help Desk at (574) 535-7700. 

By using the Google Applications, you can create documents, spreadsheets, slide presentations, and more, and store them in Google Drive in the cloud where you can access them from anywhere that you have an Internet connection. You can also work on those files collaboratively with other people. 

Accessing Your Goshen College Account on a Personal Device

Employees are not allowed to forward their GC email to a personal account. However, you can set up your Goshen College email, calendar, and Google Drive on a personal device, such as a phone or tablet. Just go into the settings area on your device where you can add a new account. Be sure to choose that it is a “Google” account. Follow the prompts to set up your account, including entering in your Goshen College email address and your password.

Microsoft Office 365 Account

All currently enrolled students and currently employed employees have access to a free Microsoft Office 365 Account through Goshen College. Access Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage and web applications at by logging in with your Goshen College email address and password. Install the latest versions of Office apps on your personal computer, or use them on iPads or Android tablets. 

Learning Management System

Goshen College uses Moodle, a web-based learning management system. All of your courses are in Moodle, ready for your use. Access Moodle at   Contact the Help Desk at or 574-535-7700 if you need assistance.


MyGC Portal

The MyGC Portal gives access to several employee and student services. Go to  For additional services, log in at the top of the page. 


GC Online

GC Online gives access to many employee and student services, such as online time cards and course evaluations.

Teamwork Projects is available for employees to use as a project management system. The flexibility, combined with the intuitive features the app offers mean your team will not only become better collaborators but they will massively increase their productivity on a daily basis. Employees who want to use TeamworkPM will need to contact the Help Desk to request access. Once access is granted, go to then click on the ‘Login with Google Account’ button, and enter in your GC email address and password. If you are having issues with logging in, please contact the Help Desk at (574) 535-7700.


File Storage

Students can store files in the Google Drive area of their Goshen College Google account at or in their Goshen College Microsoft OneDrive area at  

Employees can store files on either the central network file service, called GCFile (aka M: drive), or their Goshen College Google Drive account at, or in their Goshen College Microsoft OneDrive area at GCFile is only accessible from on campus on any Goshen College on-campus computer.   

GCFile gives employees access to limited space on our network file server. Employees have access to a My Documents folder which is only accessible by the individual, as well as departmental storage space which appears as the MyDepartment folder and is accessible by anyone within the employee’s department. 

  • Accessing GCFile from a GC Windows computer: start up Windows Explorer and click on ‘homes(\\ M:’ 
  • Accessing GCFile from a GC computer running Mac OS: go to the Finder, click on the Go menu, and then click on Connect to Server.  In the server field, type in smb://, and then click the Connect button. You will be prompted to log in with your GC username and password. 

Classroom Computing

GC has more than a dozen multimedia classrooms, equipped with computing, projection and multimedia equipment. If your course requires this sort of technology, contact the registrar to ensure that your class is scheduled in the appropriate space.

If you have a classroom emergency involving technology, call the Help Desk at 574-535-7700. 


Lab Computing 

There are four public student computer labs on campus; the Schertz Computer Center, the Library Lab, the Newcomer 12 computer lab, and Visual Arts computer lab. These labs are also used as classrooms, so please check the schedule outside of each lab to see if a class is in session. No food allowed in computer labs at any time, covered beverages are allowed.

Staff and/or Student Technology Assistants are on duty Monday through Thursday from 8am-12 midnight, Fridays 8am-5pm, Saturdays 2pm-4pm, and Sundays 7pm-12 midnight to help you with computing problems or questions. There are also computers available in the Connector, and a collaborative mobile lab in the Schertz Computer Center.  

Computer Lab Hours: 

  • Schertz Computer Center (basement of the Union building) Open 24 hours a day/7 days a week.  Student Technology Assistants on duty most days/evenings until 7pm..
  • Library Computer Lab (North East corner of Library 1st floor) Walk-in access during library hours.
  • Newcomer 12 Computer Lab (Newcomer building) Access during building hours.
  • VA22 (second floor of Visual Arts Building) Access during building hours.
  • Connector (2nd and 4th floors of Kratz/Miller dorms) Open 24 hours a day/7 days a week during the academic year.

Note:  These times are regular hours and may change during mid-term breaks, holidays and the summer.  Watch the Campus Communicator and lab doors for hours.

Zoom Account for Virtual Meetings and Classes

Goshen College uses Zoom for holding online meetings, online courses, conducting training, and hosting webinars. This is the preferred video tool at Goshen College. All employees and students are given access to Zoom. All Goshen College computers come with the Zoom application already installed. Open the Zoom application and choose the Google option for signing in.  



There are printers and multi-function printer/copiers placed throughout campus which you can use for printing. There are also two print queues called "campus-copier"and “campus-color copier” that you can print to and then log onto any campus multi-function printer/copier to print your jobs.  Students receive $15 of free printing at the beginning of each semester, $7.50 for the May term, and $7.50 for summer if taking summer courses.  Students must purchase additional print credit from the ITS Help Desk if they run out of print credit before the end of a semester.  Students can check their print balance by going to You can also log onto a Windows computer in any of the computer labs and see your balance listed in the window that is displayed in the top right corner of the desktop.
Printing and copying that is done by employees will be charged to their department on a quarterly basis.

Xerox MFPs cost 5 cents per 8.5 x 11 page/side for black and 25 cents per page/side for color;

11 x 17 size cost 15 cents per page/side for black and 35 cents per page/side for color.

Laser printers cost 25 cents per page/side for color and 5 cents per page/side for grayscale. 

Note: The multi-function printer/copiers are set to duplex printing by default.

Employees, please note that ITS does not provide personal inkjet printers for your office, or assist with the setup of, or troubleshoot problems with personal inkjet printers. Employees will need to print to the regional network printers in their department or building that are provided by the ITS Department.

GC hosts a number of listservs. You can subscribe to a listserv from within GC Online. 


Media Services

ITS Media is located on the south end of the main floor of the Union Building. They provide a wide range of audiovisual services and support, including check-out of various audiovisual equipment.  Contact ITS Media at 574-535-7727 or


Library Resources

The Good Library has a rich collection of online resources, including bibliographic and full-text databases. See



GC is using Akademos, a full-service online bookstore.  The bookstore website can be accessed at:  Students can access their book lists on the new website by signing in. Once signed in, you will see a list of textbooks from the classes you have signed up for for the following semester.


Residential Networking for Student Housing 

Students may connect to the Goshen College network from their dorm rooms or from off-campus housing.  Students who want to connect to the wired network, can borrow a network cable from the ITS department.  Register your networked device at

(574) 535-7700). This service is available free of charge to all students.  Please make an appointment with ITS before bringing your computer to us for help. 


iPads at GC

All undergrad students receive an iPad to use while a student at GC. Upon graduation, ownership of the iPad transfers to the student. 

Students in the Continuing Education programs can participate in our iPad Lease Program

Faculty are encouraged to use an iPad, and are encouraged to find ways to incorporate the use of iPads into their course. Contact Josiah Metzler at the Help Desk to receive an iPad to use while teaching at GC. Contact Michelle Blank if you would like to discuss ways in which you can incorporate the use of iPads into your courses. 

Do you know of an iPad application that would be helpful for you and your students to use? Contact the Help Desk to see if ITS can purchase the application at a volume discount for you and your students. 

Any employee who does not have a GC issued laptop can request an iPad to use while working at GC.
Faculty can use an iPad, even if they have a GC issued laptop.
